Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 April 2026
1. Introduction
Talobook ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the rights you have in relation to it. It applies to all users of our platform — visitors, buyers, and creators alike. Please read this policy carefully alongside our Terms of Service.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: Name, email address, username, password (hashed), and profile details you provide on registration or thereafter.
- Transaction data: Purchase history and payout records. Payment card details are handled directly by our payment provider and are not stored on our servers.
- Creator content: Content, metadata, and payout account details that creators upload or submit.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, clicks, search queries, and session duration — collected via cookies and similar technologies.
- Device and technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
- Communications: Messages you send to our support team or via any contact forms.
3. Legal basis for processing
Where applicable under UK GDPR or other privacy laws, we rely on the following legal bases to process your data: performance of a contract (to provide and operate the service); legitimate interests (to improve the platform, prevent fraud, and ensure security); compliance with a legal obligation; and, where required, your consent (e.g. for marketing communications).
4. How we use your information
We use your information to: provide, operate, and improve Talobook; process transactions and facilitate creator payouts; communicate with you about your account, purchases, or support requests; send service-related notices and, where you have opted in, marketing updates; enforce our Terms of Service and protect the safety of users; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with applicable legal obligations.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to recognise you when you visit, remember your preferences, and analyse how the platform is used. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of Talobook. We do not use your data for cross-site behavioural advertising.
6. Data sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with trusted third-party service providers that help us operate the platform, including hosting providers, analytics services, and payment processors. These providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify. We may also disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Talobook, our users, or the public.
7. International data transfers
Some of our third-party service providers may process data outside the UK or EEA. Where this occurs, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place — such as standard contractual clauses — to protect your personal data in line with applicable data protection law.
8. Security and retention
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews — to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. We retain your information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the service, and as required by law. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate or incomplete data; request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten"); restrict or object to certain types of processing; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the Help page. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
10. Children's privacy
Talobook is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it promptly.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. For significant changes, we will notify registered users by email or via an in-app notice before they take effect. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
12. Contact
For privacy-related questions, data requests, or to exercise your rights, please contact us via the Help page. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 30 days.
